In these sorts of projects communication is the most effective tool in the shop. They have not built the machine that lets me read your mind yet, so we need to be sure that we are both thinking the same thing! It is better if you know what you want before enlisting my services. I am very willing to work with you on your project, but please remember that time is money. The more you have your ducks lined up the quicker and cheaper your project will go.

To all you crazy inventor types-I can keep a secret! Signing non-disclosure agreements is no problem. However, I will not do your work for a cut of the final product! You must pay me in real money- unless I like you or you have a really fun job. Each case on an individual basis of course, but I still need to pay bills so money is a guaranteed way to get your stuff done. As with any newly designed parts, there is nothing simple. So if you come around with an attitude of "All you gotta do is..." you can go somewhere else. The worst jobs start with the thought that it will be simple- some are, most are not!! If the job is worth doing, it is worth taking the time and thought to do it correctly and thoroughly. For one off parts I charge by the hour, plus any material and special tools. It may be expensive, but this kind of work doesn't come out of chtime, a two week lead time is the usual.
